As the owner of a lawn care agency, testing out new products and gardening tool brands to better serve our customers is an integral part of the job.

Champion 7 Ton Log Splitter Reviews

For a machine that is incredibly portable and compact, the 7 Ton Horizontal Log Splitter truly packs a punch. It’s the machine that my sister uses for her own yard, and it has been serving her reliably for some years now.

Her yard mainly grows smaller shrubs and trees with thinner bark, so this splitter suits her needs just fine. But the 7 Ton can be used for thicker logs as well, and it’s all thanks to its vertical splitting feature. This can allow it to go through woods which are 36 inches in diameter effortlessly.

I find the splitter’s portability to be its most attractive feature. Not all 7-ton splitters come with a portable design like the Champion, and this is precisely what makes it so very easy to store and transport to cut the wood at its source.

But one gripe that I do have against it is that in the vertical splitting position the Champion 7 Ton is incredibly difficult to use. And the placement of the exhaust deflector in the vertical mode is placed quite inconveniently, and it can puff the emission smoke on the user depending on where he/she is standing.

Champion 25 Ton Log Splitter Reviews

The 25 Ton Log Splitter variety is all about providing the user with the required amount of splitting and cutting versatility. What honestly attracted me the most about this model is how it seamlessly allowed me to switch between vertical and horizontal cutting operations.

Operating horizontally is just perfect for splitting smaller logs, and along with the catcher, I don’t have to bend and strain my back all that much.

The vertical operation, on the other hand, is much more suited for going through logs which are very thick like oak or even logs with a lot of knot in them.

Though it might slow down its strokes for the thickest piles, or for wood that has sat through the winter, it gets the job done eventually. So it’s not something I should complain about, but what was rather annoying about the splitter was the assembly.

The product did not arrive assembled, and it took me a good deal of 2 hours to get it up and running. The manual was misleading, and I had to look up multiple assembly guides.

Champion 27 Ton Log Splitter Reviews

Made more for the medium sized yard and more robust trees in mind, the 27 Ton 224cc Log Splitter is the ideal fit for the average suburban home.

As the suburban homeowners form a majority of my clientele, I am quite intimately familiar with this splitter. And what’s so dependable about this machine is the reliable recoil speed and startup that makes it so very easy to use.

The 27 Ton has a unique auto-return valve as well that allows the splitter to be capable of 300 cycles per hour. This significantly reduces my splitting time, and along with the 224cc powerful engine, I can make quick work of logs up to 100 pounds in weight and 24 inches in length.

The 2-stage gear pump helps regulate the splitting force by being able to deliver high flow and low pressure when it senses that there is no resistance, and low flow with high pressure when cutting thicker logs for increased productivity.

But what felt a bit off about this splitter was the assembly. It will come to your doorsteps mostly assembled, however setting in the free parts can be surprisingly tricky.

Champion 34 Ton Log Splitter Reviews

This heavy-duty professional grade 34 Ton Log Splitter is the one that I use for my own backyard and for those jobs that take me to bigger lawns and gardens.

As my yard grows a lot of oak, it’s very difficult for me to acquire firewood with a splitter that lacks power. And that’s exactly why I settled for this splitter. Its amazing splitting force and horizontal/vertical full beam features not only offer relief for my back but reduces my work time significantly.

Its efficient design allows for it to have a fast 16-second cycle time that is capable of generating over 350 cycles every hour. The expanded operator area when coupled with the 338cc engine and the auto-return valve made this splitter go through my oak log pile in a matter of hours.

And even though its size is massive, it comes with DOT-approved wheels that can cap a speed of up to 45 mph. It also has a convenient 2 inches ball hitch coupler that allows for very simple towing.

But when it comes to issues, it’s a lot similar to the 7 Ton. Emission displacer is awkwardly placed, and the splitter is extremely difficult to use in the vertical position.
